The Type 21 answers the French Ministry of Defence's 1956 request to upgrade the Type 20, as Airain tells it, and is drawn from a 1960s model found at a Sotheby's auction. It has a glossy black dial with Old Radium lume on a 39 mm steel case, and the hand-wound AM2 column-wheel flyback chronograph with 63 hours of reserve.

Collector photographs

Taken by people who own this reference: their light, their wear, their patina. Not the maker’s photography. Where the maker hasn’t given us a photograph, one of these is shown as the main image above, always credited. A few are the Atlas’s own, and say so.

No collector photographs yet

If this watch is in your collection, yours would be the first. A photograph on the wrist shows what a studio image cannot: scale, wear, and how the piece has actually aged.

Buyer’s tip

Check the reference number against the maker's own page before buying anywhere else. It is the one detail that is hard to fake and easy to verify, and it is what the specifications on this page are keyed to.
