Caliber CW-003
Christopher Ward's second in-house movement, which its page says was designed for The C12 Loco alone and laid out to be as symmetrical as possible. It is hand-wound, built from 138 components, and runs 144 hours (six days) on a full wind, at 4 Hz with 29 jewels. The balance is free-sprung and sits on the dial side above six o'clock, with a 0.045 mm hairspring. Free-sprung means there is no regulator index shortening or lengthening the working hairspring: the rate is set by screws on the balance rim itself, which leaves the hairspring free to breathe evenly.
Spec source ↗A standard modern beat rate, balancing precision against long-term wear.
Take it off on Friday evening and it is still running on Monday morning. Longer than 96% of the calibres in the Atlas.
